- Ricky Martin shot an MTV Making The Video for "Nobody Wants To Be Lonely" with Christina Aguilera in Miami.
- Ricky Martin will
headline the opening ceremonies of President Elect George Bush's inauguration. The ceremony, called "Celebration of America's Spirit Together," will take place in Washington, D.C. at the Lincoln Memorial on Thursday, January 18th.
BRITNEY SPEARS
- Britney got her first movie role The pop tart will make her acting debut in a film described as a cross between "Boys On The
Side" and "Duets".
It is rumored that she will sing in the film, which will begin shooting in March.
- Britney got two Grammy nominations for "Best Pop Vocal Album" and "Best Female Pop Vocal Performance." The 43rd Annual Grammy Awards will be held on Wednesday, February 21 at 8 PM on CBS.
SADE
- After more than eight years, Sade returns with her new haunting, elegiac record, Lovers Rock, a collection of smoky, romantic ballads and soulful pop.
- Sade's entire back catalogue has been digitally re-mastered by Tomy Coyne at Stirling Sound in Nyc. All five albums: "Diamond Life", "Promise", "Stronger than
Pride", "Love Deluxe" and "The Best of" have now all been re-released.
- Sade smashed into the US charts at # 3 with unprecedented sales of Lovers Rock. Selling over 370,000 means that
Lovers Rock had the biggest first week sales by a UK act in the US in 2000 and it has outsold all previous Sade albums in the US. This adds to Sade's worldwide success, having sold a staggering 40 million copies across her 5 previous albums. Lovers Rock also dominates as a new entry in top 10 charts across Europe being #2 in Sweden, #4 in France, Italy and Germany, #5 in Norway and #6 in both Spain and Switzerland.
MARILYN MANSON
- On the anniversary of John Lennon's death, Marilyn Manson presents an acoustic clip of "Working Class Hero", which is a Lennon song that appears as a B-side on the "Disposable Teens" single.
- The cover of Holy Wood has been banned from Circuit City and Best Buy. These stores will be carrying an alternate album cover. Manson had this to say.
"The irony is that my point of the photo on the album was to show people that the crucifixion of Christ is, in deed, a violent image. In fact, the picture itself is composed of a statue of
Jesus taken from a place of worship. My jaw is missing as a symbol of this very kind of censorship. This doesn't piss me off as much as it pleases me, because those offended by my album cover have successfully proven my point."
COURTNEY LOVE
- La Love signs up to star in a new comedy, "Welcome To Collinwood", about a gang who tries to rob a pawn shop.

- There is a rumor going around that Alanis Morissette has lent vocals to the upcoming Dave Matthews Band release. There is no official word as
of yet. The cd entitled "Everyday" will be released on February 27, 2001.
- Alanis Morissette's 1995 album Jagged Little Pill was the best seller of the '90s, according to SoundScan numbers released Monday (January 3). The release, the Canadian singer-songwriter's third, sold more that 13.7 million albums in the decade, as fans in droves connected with confessional rock anthems like "You Oughta Know," "Hand In My Pocket" and "Ironic."
